Juvenile Diversion Program
In partnership with Medina County Juvenile Judge Kevin W. Dunn, the Juvenile Diversion program was established as a voluntary program that utilizes driving simulators and class room instruction taught by police officers from various police departments in Medina County. The program is taught on Saturdays at Medina High School for three hours. This program is an alternative to going through the Juvenile Court system and having a juvenile record.
School Resource Officer – D.A.R.E.
Officer David Pinkas began in 2008 as the School Resource Officer (SRO). A SRO is a positive role model for many students. A SRO’s presence in the school sends a strong message that violence is not acceptable. Secondly, they act as law-related counselors who provide guidance on law-related issues to students, act as a link to support services both inside and outside the school environment and are law-related teachers who provide schools with an additional educational resource by sharing their expertise in the classroom.
Take Control
Take Control is an expansion of the Medina County Juvenile Diversion program. Since 2008 Medina County local law enforcement has offered a similar advanced driver training to teens who received their first traffic citation, in lieu of a traditional fine, thanks to the support of Medina County Juvenile Court.
Medina County Police Athletics League – MCPAL
Medina County Police Activities League (MCPAL) is an after school program that brings area youth and local law enforcement together in a fun and active environment. Medina County police departments are working with the Medina County Juvenile Court, area school districts, local businesses and the community to help reach all area youth and create a successful program.
